The first snow is predicted to happen on November 15th, which may or not materialize, but it is not far off. Renew your Mora Ski Club membership now and keep up to date on all the latest local news in cross-country skiing. Send in your membership form in today.
Volunteers Needed!!
MSC activities are centered around skiing and your assistance is needed for many of them to be successful. There is fire wood to be gathered, the Beaver Lodge needs a good cleaning, shelters and trails need final work before the snow flies. Fast Track helpers, snacks providers, Beaver Dam Classic Race day workers are just a few of the many way you can help out. Contact a board member or come to a meeting to Volunteer.
Ski Club Meetings
The MSC board of directors meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Nordic Center Garage. Dates of board meetings are included on our calendar. All members are always welcome to attend these meetings.

The cross country skiing season will be here soon! Now is the time to renew your membership to the Mora Ski Club. MSC promotes skiing in the Mora area by providing or sponsoring the following:
Ø Skiing events' like the Lanternloppet and the Beaver Dam Classic
Ø Fast Track Ski Club for skiers age 5-13
Ø Ski Lessons for adult beginners
Ø Equipment and membership scholarships for Fast Track Skiers
Ø The MSC Beaver Lodge on the Beaver Dam Trail at the Vasaloppet Ski Area

Where to Ski in and Around Mora
Vasaloppet Nordic Ski Center
Location: North side of town, on the Vasaloppet trail.
How to get there: From the traffic light at Hwys 65 & 23, go north on Hwy. 65 to 9th Street and turn left (west). The Nordic Ski Center is located on the north side of the street, just east of Trailview School.
Trails: A network of trails, totaling about 8 km. and including portions of the Vasaloppet 35 km. and 58 km. trails, is groomed regularly all season. Depending on snow conditions, it's possible to ski even farther on the Vasaloppet trails. Terrain is mostly open, flat or rolling. Trails are groomed for both classic and skating.
Facility: The Vasaloppet Nordic Ski Center building includes common areas, a wax room, restrooms, and changing rooms with showers and saunas. During ski season the wax room and restrooms are open seven days a week during daylight hours. The entire building is open on weekends and for special events.
Vasaloppet Ski Area
Location: About 15 miles north of Mora, near the start of the Vasaloppet race.
How to get there: From the traffic light, take Hwy 65 north12 miles to Cty. Rd. 25, then - west 2 1/2 miles to Cty. Rd. 80, then north 2 1/4 miles to parking lot on the west side of the road. Enter the trail from the north end of the parking lot. Ski north and west to the Ski Club Lodge.
Trails: Interlocking loops totaling about 25 km. Rolling, mostly wooded terrain. tails are open all season, and depending on snow cover, most are groomed for both classic and skating. The Lantemloppet and the Beaver Dam Classic are held on these trails.
Facility: The Mora Ski Club maintains a lodge at the intersection of the Beaver Dam Trail and the South Loop that is open to all skiers. There is a wood stove in the lodge, and an outhouse nearby.
Pat Gorham's trail
Location: About 3 1/2 miles northeast of town.
How to get there: From the traffic light at Hwys. 65 and 23, go east on 23 about 1 -1/2 miles to Mahogany St. (Cty. Rd. 71/11), then north on Mahogany, 1 -3/4 miles to a stop sign. Continue past the stop sign to the second driveway on the left (2269 Mahogany).
Trails: Privately maintained loops totaling about 8k. Wooded, some flat or rolling, some steep hills. Mora Ski Club members are welcome to ski these trails at any time. However, before you go we recommend calling Pat (679-1621) to find out about trail conditions and grooming.
John Hollister's trail
Location: About 8 miles southeast of Mora.
How to get there: From the traffic light at Hwys 65 and 23, go east on Hwy 23 about 1-1/2 miles to Mahogany St. (Cty. Rd. 11), then south on Mahogany one mile to 195th Ave. (Cty. Rd. 1, Henriette Rd.). Go east on 195th, 5 miles to Rainbow St. (Cty. Rd. 5), then south 1 mile to 185th Ave., and west 1/4 mile to the first driveway on the left (2675 185th Ave). Parking area to the left of the driveway.
Trails: Privately maintained loops totaling about 3 km. Open woods, rolling. Mora Ski Club members are welcome to ski these trails at any time. However, before you go we recommend calling John or Leslie (679-5527) to find out about trail conditions and grooming.
